The 6 Personal Perspectives of Keller Williams

If you are serious about making a career in real estate like I am, then you definitely need to set goals or milestones to achieve that goal. These goals can be long term or short term. However, to achieve these goals, you need support and advice.

One of the best parts of KW is its culture of sharing. The expert agents have been sharing their perspectives with the agents joining KW. I have been following these perspectives and achieved a lot so far. Here are the perspectives:

  • Committing to self-mastery
  • Committing to the 80/20 principle
  • Moving from “E” to “P”
  • Being learning based
  • Removing limiting beliefs
  • Being accountable

These perspectives have helped me to reflect on my life and helped me to improve my personal life and professional life. These perspectives will help you to understand where you are in your life and how you can achieve what you want. So, here is how the perspectives helped me:

Step 1: Committing to Self-mastery

To become a successful agent, you need the knowledge and skills that will help you to do your business. You have to be committed to improving yourself. The process of self-development is called self-mastery. It is the habit of gaining knowledge and developing skills for self-improvement. Now, what is the process of self-mastery?

In my case, it was a lot of self-reflection. Through self-reflection, I was able to find out my strengths and weaknesses. Then, think about what skills and knowledge you need to reach your goals. If you lack any skill or knowledge, you need to achieve them to succeed.

For example, I have been interested in becoming a real estate agent for a long time. But the problem was I lacked some skills in public speaking and communication skills. Both of these skills are important to become an agent. So, I started to attend seminars, read books, and interview successful agents to improve my communication skills.

Step 2: Committing to the 80/20 Principle

The perspective of committing to the 80/20 principle has helped me to find out the priorities in my personal and real estate career. According to the 80/20 principle, 80% of outcomes come from 20% of all causes, which means some actions can bring you more success than other actions. These actions can be difficult to perform but can bring more fruitful results.

Following the rule, I make a list of actions that can lead me to my goals. Then, I find out which actions can bring me more results. After that, I focus only on my top priorities. In the real estate business or any other job, multitasking is not a good idea. You may think you can do a lot by multitasking, but you actually cannot complete any task wholeheartedly.

On the other hand, if you focus on a single important task for the whole day, you will complete the task perfectly, and get more effective results.

Step 3: Moving from “E” to “P”

After working hard as an agent with proper knowledge and skills, you are bound to become better in your job. You will also gain some goals that you have set. But what happens after that? What will you do when you reach the ceiling of achievement? Do you stop there?

Many agents cannot make progress after a certain point in their careers. This happens because they get comfortable doing what they are good at or only focus on the easy way. So, to achieve your highest potential, you have to move from “E” to “P”.

“E” stands for Entrepreneurial, and “P” stands for Purposeful. You have to be purposefully committed to following a model and systems that feel unnatural for you. Becoming purposeful will open many new possibilities for you. Hence, you will be able to break the achievement ceiling and find new goals in your career.

Step 4: Being Learned Based

Clients will trust only an agent who knows about his business. An agent needs to have complete knowledge about his locality and people living there to make a successful business transaction. The expert agents are experts because they know things about the real estate business.

So, being a learned based real estate agent means that you have to participate in all the educational seminars, training, and self-development programs provided by the company. To improve my skills, I have also read books and informative articles. Without the continuous process of learning about the real estate business, you cannot move forward in your career.

Step 5: Removing Limited Beliefs

According to the successful agents of KW, the biggest barrier in an agent’s life is the lack of confidence. This perspective teaches us to remove beliefs that limit our minds. What I learned is that self-doubt will cause more harm and stress than taking risks. You have to think positively and let go of negative thoughts.

So, be bold and believe in yourself. Refine your skills and use them when you think you are struggling. Do not limit yourself to do things you are comfortable with but think about innovative ideas that can bring new opportunities for your career. Make a routine and for self-improvement like doing yoga or meditation.

The environment and culture around you may also influence your thinking and beliefs. Therefore, surround yourself with people who encourage you and inspire you. You have to follow the people who you want to be like in your life.

Step 6: Being Accountable

Keller Williams Realty has always given a lot of emphasis on accountability, transparency, and honesty. Hence, the successful agents have also advised the newcomers to be accountable for their actions and business.

As an agent, you have to be honest with your clients and the company. Clients cannot trust you when you do not answer their questions honestly and clearly. If you are proven dishonest in your business, you will stop getting leads and clients.

So, start by being honest with yourself. Find out where you are lacking or not improving. Moreover, you have to change the attitude of blaming others for your failure. Life is tough. So, sometimes things may not work out the way we want. But you have to find out what was lacking from your side rather than blaming the situation.
